Navigating the CDCP With You
Our general dentists believe in transparency and partnership. We understand that new programs can feel complex, so we prioritize clear communication to help you understand your coverage. Our role is to provide the clinical care you need while helping you navigate the administrative side of the CDCP so there are no surprises during your visit.
Is the CDCP Right for You?
The CDCP is specifically for residents who do not have access to private dental insurance. To be eligible for the program, the Government of Canada requires that you:
- Live in Canada and have filed your most recent tax return.
- Lack private dental coverage (through work, school, or a pension).
- Fall within the income threshold (an adjusted family net income under $90,000).
What Does the Plan Cover?
The CDCP covers a wide range of services that prevent dental disease and restore oral function. At Harvest Pointe Dental, we use these benefits to focus on:
- Prevention First: Professional cleanings, fluoride, and exams to catch issues before they become painful or costly.
- Restoring Health: Fillings, root canals, and extractions to address decay and infection.
- Replacing Missing Teeth: Options for dentures to help you chew and speak with ease.
- Gum Health: Periodontal treatments to manage inflammation and maintain the bone supporting your teeth.
Note: Some services may require a “pre-authorization” from the plan provider, which our team will help manage on your behalf.
A Note on Costs and Co-Payments
While the CDCP is a significant step toward making dental care affordable, it is not always a “free” program. Depending on your household income, the plan may cover between 40% and 100% of the CDCP-specific fee guide. Because our office follows the standard Alberta Dental Association fee guide, there may be a remaining balance (a co-payment) for your visit.
